Letter: Samantha Nestor for State Senate

To the Editor:

I first met Sam nearly ten years ago when we were both running for a seat on the Weston Board of Education. We were elected together and became colleagues on the Board of Education.

I have had the opportunity to work closely with Sam during my years on the Board of Education, including while serving as its Chair, and I have continued to work closely with her in my current role as Weston’s Second Selectman. Over the years, Sam and her wonderful family have become close family friends.

After nearly a decade of knowing Sam personally and working alongside her in public service, I can say without hesitation that she is exactly the kind of person I want representing us in the Connecticut State Senate.

Sam is smart, thoughtful, and extraordinarily hardworking. She is relentless in pursuing the goals she believes will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people she serves. When Sam takes on an issue, she does her homework, asks the difficult questions, listens to different points of view, and stays with it until the work is done. I have seen that determination firsthand, and I know she will bring that same determination to Hartford.

Too often, towns like Weston can feel forgotten in Hartford. Decisions made at the state level have real consequences for our schools, our budgets, our taxpayers, and our ability to effectively govern our communities. Sam understands those challenges because she has experienced them firsthand and has successfully navigated the state politics in Hartford to bring significant state grant money to our town during her tenure. She knows what towns like ours are facing, and she will fight to make sure our voices are heard.

But my support for Sam comes from more than our years serving together. After almost ten years of friendship, I know the person behind the public servant. I know how much she cares about her community, how seriously she takes the responsibility of serving others, and how hard she is willing to work for something she believes in. I have seen those qualities around a board table, in our community, and as a friend.

Sam is the kind of advocate I want representing our communities in Hartford, and I am proud to support her for the Connecticut State Senate. I hope you will join me in voting for her.
