Letter: Thanks from Parks & Rec

To the Editor:

Thank you to all that helped make the Weston Family Fourth a big success.

On July 4th the Weston Family Fourth of July Celebration was held at Weston Middle School.

A beautiful night of food, fireworks and live bands was enjoyed by thousands of people who picnicked or enjoyed the food trucks that were on hand.

I would like to recognize those who helped make this another very successful event.

Our sponsors, Cumming Group, Tucci baseball, Fairfield County Bank, The Bross-Chingas-Bross team, Bugs and Blades, Dermatology Physicians of Connecticut, Lily’s Market, O‘Neill’s Irish Pub, Bartlett Tree (Weston Arborists), Weston Softball and Douglas Enterprises LLC. Our event sponsors are so valuable to us being able to continue to run this event and offer the celebration to our public. We applaud their community spirit and involvement!

The people who continue to keep Weston safe every day, Weston EMS, Weston Volunteer Fire Department, and the Weston Police Department who were on hand to make sure that everyone enjoyed the festivities safely.

The Board of Education Facilities Department provided us with the use of stages, band music stands, electrical service, tables and chairs and made sure the Middle School field was manicured expertly.

Our food vendors, Tony Pizza, Lucky Dog, Walrus Alley, and Connecticut Ice Cream Trucks were on hand to supply great food and ice cream treats.

The DTC provided the ice cream truck and the RTC the fun glow treats.

The Westport Community Band and Big Deal Rock kept the crowd entertained with great music leading up to the fantastic fireworks display.

And finally, I appreciate the efforts of my staff in the Parks & Recreation Department who worked so hard to make sure everything ran smoothly all night!

It is a joy to see so many smiling faces on the Fourth enjoying this wonderful town event celebrating Independence Day!
