Letters & Endorsements

Jennifer Bernheim for Samantha Nestor

With Election Day upon us, I wanted to share my endorsement for reelection of Weston’s First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor.

Over the past two years, I’ve been impressed with the First Selectwoman’s commitment to getting things done in our town! Under her leadership, we have witnessed the completion of:

  • Our town’s first-ever sidewalk development in Town Center,
  • A more accessible Town Green,
  • Lachat Offutt Education Center,
  • Infrastructure improvements for our roads and bridges,
  • Senior center bathrooms, and more.

Our First Selectwoman is at the helm full time. She is deeply committed to understanding and continually meeting the needs of our community. She listens and learns first-hand about what’s on the minds of our neighbors as evidenced by knocking on more than 1800 doors in the past few months.

Our First Selectman has also been responsive to pressing issues. For example, when there were PFAS in municipal drinking water, she remediated the issue — securing $1 million from State Revolving Fund. Additionally, First Selectwoman Nestor also values her strong partnerships with partners in Hartford. This collaboration has led to obtaining $35 million in additional funding for development and energy efficiency in town.

First Selectwoman Nestor is creative, planful, and collaborative. Her commitment to transparent communication is unparalleled. If you want to know what is going on in our town, look no further than her weekly “Town Hall Happenings.” I certainly value this consistent communication that shares details about the many updates and offerings of our town.

Most importantly to me, First Selectwoman Nestor is relatable and in touch with the challenges of raising a family today. She is a working mom with two children in our public schools. In between board meetings, she’s carpooling and picking up items at Lily’s. She’s at school events, nonprofit fundraisers, and community ribbon cuttings. It’s refreshing to have our town leader present at so many events.

There is no doubt that First Selectwoman Nestor has been and will continue to be deeply committed to the betterment of our community.
