New WMS Principal Named

The Weston Public School District has appointed Jason Bluestein as principal of Weston Middle School, effective July 1.
Mr. Bluestein is a former assistant principal of Weston Intermediate School, a position he left in 2012 to become, for the past 13 years, principal of Burr Elementary School in Fairfield.
His background includes work in literacy instruction, middle grade education, and experience in school leadership as a principal, assistant principal, and curriculum leader. He has also taught English language arts teacher in grades 4, 5, and 8 and continues to teach at the university graduate level.
“Mr. Bluestein distinguished himself throughout the selection process as a thoughtful and strategic leader,” said Juliane Givoni, the district’s human resources director.
“Jason will be a great match for Weston Middle School,” said Acting Superintendent Deborah Low. “He is committed to continuous improvement and has an impressive record of positive collaboration with staff, students, and families.”
Mr. Bluestein earned advanced certificates in Executive Leadership from the University of Connecticut and in Administration from Southern Connecticut State University. He holds a Master’s degree in Education from Sacred Heart University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut.
He replaces WMS Principal Dan Doak, who announced his retirement in February.
