A Town Hall ceremony on Wednesday afternoon honored the promotion of two veteran Weston police officers: Joe Miceli to the rank of captain and Joe Mogollon as detective.
Captain Miceli
Captain Miceli, now the department’s second in command, was promoted to sergeant in 2018. He has long been the town’s Director of Emergency Management, and will continue to be.
Detective Mogollon
The celebration for Detective Mogollon was overdue, as he has filled the position for more than a year. In 2016, he became Weston’s first School Resource Officer (SRO), serving primarily at Weston High School. (We profiled the two SROs in a 2019 article.)
Police Commissioner Dawn Egan, who was elected chair of the commission on Tuesday evening, presided over the ceremony. Police chaplain Reverend Dr. Bernard Wilson of Norfield Congregational Church provided the benediction.
Captain Miceli and Detective Mogollon were sworn in by First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor in the presence of their families. Chief of Police Ed Henion thanked the many Weston police officer in attendance, along with leaders of the town’s emergency services and police officials from neighboring towns.
