Letter to the Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

Tip O’Neill notwithstanding, at this moment in our nation’s history all politics is national. Sadly, one of our nation’s major political parties has become not much more than a cult of personality.

Ron DeSantis, Gregg Abbott, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, Jim Jordan, Louie Gohmert, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy — what a rogues’ gallery of science deniers, anti-vaxxers, disenfranchisers, insurrectionists, gun lovers, misogynists, xenophobes and spineless sycophants.

This is no longer my father’s GOP. He coached rifle at New Canaan High and was an NRA member, way back when it was all about safety. He would be appalled now.

We must rebuke this grotesquely re-invented Republican Party across the country, starting right here in Weston. So please get out and vote Row A all the way on election day to preserve effective and responsible Democratic leadership in our town. I know I will.
