Letter to the Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

Please join me in voting for Steve Ezzes for Board of Finance. Weston is extremely fortunate to have someone as financially astute as Steve volunteering his time to serve on the Board and as its unanimously elected Chairman for eight years.

Weston’s financial state is strong, and it is due in no small measure to his record of fiscal responsibility, responsive leadership, and collaboration with other boards on a non-partisan basis.

Steve brings knowledge and expertise from a wide range of positions: a similar post on Westport’s Board of Finance; his work as managing director of Newmarket Capital with 30 years of financial and corporate experience; and as a member of the executive committee for finance on the board of the Connecticut Lottery Commission, appointed by Governor Lamont.

Weston has experienced many issues over Steve’s tenure, including the pandemic, and with his leadership has successfully continued our excellent education and town services with modest mill rate increases, and in some years none.

Going forward, there will be much to accomplish addressing needed infrastructure improvements, lower state aid, and decisions on how best to take advantage of retiring bond debt. Re-electing Steve to the Board of Finance should help us all sleep a bit better!
