Letter to the Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

Our family wants to thank everyone who attended the Weston Board of Police Commissioners meeting to support us, raise awareness about racial bias, and break down the walls of systemic racism in policing.

WE THANK YOU for standing with us.

WE THANK YOU for showing up not once but twice.

WE THANK YOU for being as passionate about the impact of racial bias in policing as we are.

WE THANK YOU for realizing racism isn’t only a Black issue.

WE THANK YOU for not observing passively but actively participating in the work needed to bring about police reform.

WE THANK YOU for supporting our recommendations to make this community safer for all residents.

WE THANK YOU for demanding accountability.

WE THANK YOU for realizing that things must change.

WE THANK YOU (in advance) for continuing this conversation and work long after it’s no longer the hot topic.

WE THANK YOU for putting “skin in the game.”

Your support of the change we are trying to bring about means more to us than we can express … so for all of these things we just want to say WE THANK YOU.

We know it’s a long road ahead. We know we will get there. We know we can do it together.

To continue the work we’ve started, we encourage you to join or donate to TEAM Weston and also support Weston’s Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
