Weston High School’s Company theater group stages the courtroom drama, an adaptation of the 1954 teleplay “12 Angry Men,” the story of 12 jurors charged with rendering a unanimous verdict on the guilt or innocence of a teenager accused of murder, exploring how personal biases and prejudices can obstruct justice. A free opening reception for an exhibition and showcase of the artistic talents of members and friends of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Westport. Some items are for sale, others are simply shared in the spirit of community and a love of creating beauty. Refreshments are provided. Exhibited items are on display Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and on Sunday from 12 noon to 3:00 pm.

The Weston Education Foundation (WEF) presents Westchester Circus Arts, whose shows are designed to wow, inspire and educate students with a unique combination of circus, theater, acrobatics, aerial artistry, and comedy. The show is followed by an interactive session for children led by Circus performers. Tickets, $20 each for adults and children ages 2 and up, are available here. (The number of children’s tickets is capped at 250.)

Sunday Soundscapes: Jason Anick

Jason Anick returns to Sunday Soundscapes at the Weston Public Library, bringing his unique style of violin-forward jazz. He and the Matt DeChamplain Quartet celebrate the virtuosic and toe-tapping music of Duke Ellington. Classics include “Caravan” and “It Don’t Mean A Thing if It Ain’t Got That Swing.” A donation of $20 for adults and $10 for students is suggested, but not required. To stock Weston Food Pantry shelves and help families celebrate Thanksgiving, items can be dropped of in the back of the church. Items recommended include boxed stuffing, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, rice, canned gravy, veggies and fruit, baking ingredients (flour, sugar, etc.) and mixes, canned or packaged desserts (cake mix, pie filling, etc.), small bottles of cooking oil, paper goods, and non-alcoholic beverages. Gift cards also welcome.

Save a Life: Hands-Only CPR

A free class by Weston EMS on recognizing medical emergencies, hands-only CPR, and how to use a defibrillator. Participants practice on Smart Manikins. 70 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home. Only 10 percent survive, but immediate CPR doubles or triples that rate. Sign up here.
Celebrating Jane Austen

Celebrating Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, enjoy a talk about the “Pride and Prejudice” author by social dance historian Susan de Guardiola. Also learn two dances popular in Jane Austen’s novels and during her life. Mini-cupcakes and tea will round out the afternoon. A free event, but with limited space registration is required. Co-sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Public Library and the Weston History & Culture Center.
