Drowning at Devil’s Glen

A 27-year-old man fishing in the river near Devil’s Glen in Weston drowned on Sunday evening, May 24.

The victim, Freddie Pulla, a Bridgeport resident, was pronounced deceased early Monday morning at Norwalk Hospital.

According to Weston Police, at about 6:21 pm the emergency dispatch center received a 911 call reporting the incident. Police officers and personnel from the Weston Volunteer Fire Department and Weston EMS responded and conducted a search.

When the initial search was unsuccessful, officials made a mutual aid request to the Norwalk Police Department’s scuba team, who arrived on the scene and located the victim at about 8:26 pm, 20 feet below the surface of the water.

Upon being brought to shore, Weston EMS initiated resuscitation efforts and transported Mr. Pulla to Norwalk Hospital, where lifesaving measures continued to no avail. The Weston police are investigating the incident.
