Music on the Green, May 31
Weston goes tropical on Sunday, May 31 when the Silver Steel Drum Band performs at the first Music on the Green, a new program from the Weston Commission for the Arts.
Showtime is from 3:00 to 5:00 on the Town Green. The commission encourages you to bring chairs and refreshments to enjoy the high-energy, danceable beats of the Silver Steel Drum Band, including Caribbean favorites and the Soca and Calypso music of Trinidad and Tobago.
The band is also known for adding to the mix a bit of Kenny Loggins, Spyro Gyra, and Guns N’ Roses.
Weston’s Town Green was designed for just this kind of event, said Paul Levin, the arts commission chair. “By bringing concerts to the Green,” he said, “we hope to add a new dimension to how this wonderful space is used and enjoyed by our community.”
