Aspetuck Wine & Spirits, a new establishment at the Weston shopping center, is set to open in mid-July, “for Weston by Weston,” said principal Sam Corrigan, drawing on the experience and talents of local residents.

In a brief walkthrough on Thursday, all or most of the store’s furnishings and fixtures were in place. General manager Aaron Russell said delivery of stock should take place over the next few days. Mr. Russell worked at the former Peter’s Spirits store for seven years.

Mr. Corrigan said the store is an opportunity to elevate offerings of wine and spirits beyond the customary, driven by the expertise of Gary Clayton, who, like Mr. Russell, is a Weston resident.

Mr. Clayton said a key feature of the store will be a broad range of wines ranging from the familiar to eclectic, boutique varieties.

Mr. Clayton said the store will “lean in to emerging trends,” particularly considering the “explosive growth” of natural, organically grown wines with no or low alcohol content. He said a well-trained staff will be fully educated to help customers asking for recommendations.

Mr. Corrigan said the open, modern-looking store is 33 percent larger than the former spirits shop. He aims for it to be “a highlight of the community,” and plans features like tastings with wine experts, held periodically, possibly accompanied by live music.

At press time, a soft launch of Aspetuck Wine & Spirits may be possible on the July 4the weekend, with an official opening a week or two later.
