This year’s annual Fourth of July celebration takes place as usual on the Weston Middle School field. Gates to the field open at 4:50, tickets (cash only) go on sale at 4:30.

It’s $20 per vehicle for admission and parking, $5 for walk-ins. Admission is free for children age five and under.

While they last, 40 preferred parking passes can be purchased in advance at the Parks and Recreation office (47 Norfield Road) for $30 cash or check per car. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Food and ice cream trucks will be on hand at the event from 5:00 to 9:00. At 6:00, the Westport Community Band performs for an hour. From 6:15 to 7:15, it’s the Magic Genie’s show. At 7:15, the musical act is Stiletto, a Billy Joel tribute band.

Fireworks go off at 9:20. Parks & Rec advises arriving before 8:00, since there is usually a traffic rush about that time.

The Lords Highway entrance to the campus closes at 7:00, when entry becomes only possible on School Road from Weston Road (Route 57).

Most who take in the celebration bring blankets and chairs. The Parks and Rec team notes that seating is not allowed on the artificial turf fields. The rain date is Saturday, July 5th, same time, same place.
