Scenes from the Parade

Scenes in the slideshow below are from Monday’s memorable Memorial Day Parade and ceremony, offered each year by the Weston Volunteer Fire Department.
After the parade, a large gathering on the Town Green honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States. Opening remarks were delivered by First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor. Selectman Tony Pesco spoke about the origins and meaning of the holiday, and Selectman Kerem Dinlenc led a moment of silence.
Fr. Augustine Nguyen of St. Francis offered an opening prayer. At the end, Rev. Katy Piazza of Emmanuel Church delivered the benediction. Scouts raised the flag and lowered it to half staff, SBE Studios singers sang, and Daisies placed a wreath on the Green’s memorial garden.
The gathering heard from WVFD president Craig Cohen and Grand Marshal Gary Clayton, a Vietnam-era U.S. Army veteran and a member of both the fire department and Weston Volunteer EMS.
