The 9th annual Westport Dog Festival takes place at Winslow Park from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Sunday, May 18, an event from the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce and TAILS, the charitable organization that promotes spay and neutering of animals.

“This festival will be a great day for the family,” said Matthew Mandell, the Chamber’s executive director. “It’s a three-ring circus of activities that will celebrate everything dog, so bring yours.”

Mr. Mandell said the festival includes “goofy competitions,” a police K9 presentation, an obstacle course, kids’ activities, and more. In a new feature, kids will be able to pet and feed Gilbert the Party Pig.

Competitions include best tail wagger, best dressed, best kisser, best trick, best lap dog over 50 pounds, and the dog that most looks like its owner. Adoptable pets will also be present.

An array of food trucks will be on hand, and over 60 pet-related vendors will offer picture taking, caricatures, games, giveaways, and more. Tune in to radio WEBE 108 during the week leading up to the festival for opportunities to win tickets and prizes.

The festival entrance fee is $10 per person or $30 for a family of four (two adults, two children). Proceeds benefit nonprofit organizations, which from prior festivals have received more than $45,000 in donations from the Chamber.

Parking is available in designated lots along the Post Road and in private lots offered by businesses in the area.
