Andrew Karpen, 59

Andrew Marc Karpen, 59, of Fairfield, CT and Breckenridge, CO, husband of Pamela Sloan Karpen, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, from glioblastoma. Andrew is survived by his devoted children, Joshua Karpen (and Kristen) of Denver, CO, Zachary Karpen of Denver, CO, and Sloan Karpen of Charlestown, MA.
Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Sherman Karpen and Ilene Wechter, and the brother of Lawrence Karpen of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Jodi Wechter Levy of Fort Lee, NJ. A graduate of Horace Mann High School, Andrew earned a Bachelor’s Degree at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, and then an M.B.A. at New York University, where he met his wife of 32 years.
Andrew loved math and movies and merged them both into a career in the film industry where he held executive positions at Miramax, Oxygen, and Focus Features before he founded and ran the independent film distribution company Bleecker Street Media, named for the street where he and Pam had their first date.
A staple at New York Giants games, Andrew loved a party (and especially those Giants Super Bowl wins), hosting the holidays, firing up the grill and getting the blenders going (one didn’t suffice), fire pits, Isle of Palms, kayaking in Long Island Sound, bike riding, watching movies and sports, and more sports, March Madness, the US Open, hiking in Breckenridge, music festivals, and a bottle of Modelo, but mostly he couldn’t get enough of his kids, their people, his Big Fam, and Pam. Always Pam.
