Connecticut businesses, nonprofits, and municipalities affected by recent federal actions are encouraged to use a new reporting tool launched by the state.

In today’s announcement, Governor Ned Lamont said organizations can use the system to describe the impact of pauses, cancelations, and reductions in federal funding, reductions in employment, and effects of tariffs.

Mr. Lamont said reports will be compiled into a central database to help state policymakers understand how federal directives affect “various groups, geographical regions, and sectors of the economy” and inform the state’s response.

“Submitting this data is purely voluntary,” said the governor, “but I think everyone understands the importance of sharing this information so that we can better understand what exactly is happening and formulate a response on the state and local levels.”

“The consequences and impact of slashed federal funding are being felt by our citizens every day,” said Treasurer Erick Russell in a statement. “The reporting system unveiled today not only shines a light on the true scope of the damage being done to our economy and our people, but it provides real-time information that allows us to push back, to demand accountability, and to fight for the resources we all deserve.”

The announcement noted that “information submitted through this reporting tool should be considered public information and may be released by the state to interested parties.”
