Big Spring Book Sale, May 16-19

The annual Big Spring Book Sale at The Westport Library takes place this year on Friday, May 16 through Monday, May 19.

The sale features thousands of gently used books for all ages in more than 50 categories, fiction and nonfiction titles, antiquarian books, vintage children’s books, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, and framed artworks large and small.

Special interest items include books about Princess Diana and the royal family, a porcelain Princess Diana Bride Doll by the Danbury Mint, novels by bestselling author Jane Green translated into 17 languages and in new condition, and an assortment of jigsaw puzzles.

Also in the mix: signed first editions of “Wonderland” by Kirsty Mitchell and “A Mercy” by Toni Morrison, and a number of multi-volume sets, including the writings and speeches of Edmund Burke, histories by Will Durant, and novels and stories by Charles Dickens.

A conference room is filled with hardcover fiction, mystery, science fiction, fantasy books, young adult fiction and paperback novels, each priced at one dollar.

Admission is free, but tickets can be purchased for early admission hours on Friday, May 16 from 8:45 am to noon. Tickets, available here, are $35, plus a $4.19 service fee.

Regular hours for the book sale are:

Friday, May 16: Noon to 6:00 pm.
Saturday, May 17: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Sunday, May 18: 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Monday, May 19: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

On Sunday, almost everything is half price, except for items in the $1 room. On Monday, buyers can fill logo bags for $10 each, fill their own equivalent-sized bags for $8 each, or purchase individual items at half price.
