Deborah Low Named Acting Supt.

Deborah Low, a Weston resident since 2022, has been appointed Acting Superintendent of the Weston Public School District.
Ms. Low will take the helm at School Road on Friday, March 28 and will serve until June 30. The appointment follows word from Board of Education chair Steve Ezzes that Superintendent Lisa Barbiero, who announced her retirement in November, is on medical leave through the end of the school year. In a statement, Mr. Ezzes said, “We are extremely fortunate to have Ms. Low join our school district’s excellent leadership team during this important transition period.”
Ms. Low is the former superintendent of the Ridgefield public schools, having served in the office from 2007 until her retirement in 2015. Previously, she was assistant superintendent of the Wilton school district and principal at Wilton High School. She was elected to the Wilton Board of Education in 2017 and served as chair from 2019 until moving to Weston.
Ms. Low has also served on the executive board of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents (CAPSS) and as president of the Southern Fairfield County Superintendents regional CAPSS group.
She holds a B.A. in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching from SUNY Binghamton and did graduate work in school leadership at the University of Michigan.
