St. Francis Food Drive, Through Apr. 27

A continuous food drive by St. Francis of Assisi Church runs through April 27 in support of Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity, who provide food and supplies to needy Hispanic families in Bridgeport.

Donations can be dropped off at the back of the church. The families have limited storage space and have specific needs. Donations are greatly appreciated, but need to be limited to the following items:

• White rice, no larger than 5 lbs
• Beans (especially pinto, kidney, black beans)
• Cooking oil
• Sugar, no larger than 5 lbs
• Corn meal, no larger than 5 lbs
• Flour
• Masa/Maseca (a brand of corn flour available in Target)
• Coffee
• Carnation canned milk
• Juice (quart or half gallon)
• Juice boxes for kids
• Flavored oatmeal
• Mac and cheese boxes
• Pasta
• Pasta sauce
• Powdered laundry detergent
