Kiwanis Drives Support Food Pantry

In just the last two food drives held by Weston Kiwanis at the shopping center, more than 100 bags of groceries and personal care items have been donated and over $1,200 contributed, all for the benefit of Weston Food Pantry clients.
Kiwanians and high school Key Club members withstood temperatures in the mid-teens on January 25, reaching out to patrons shopping at Lilly’s Weston Market and Weston Pharmacy.
Weston residents were generous, said Anne Bigin, who runs the food pantry. “The event not only provided essential items, but it also reinforced the sense of community spirit that defines Weston,” she said.
Donations of non-perishable shelf-stable food, toiletries, and cat or dog food can be dropped off at the food pantry in the Emmanuel Church basement, 285 Lyons Plains Road, on Fridays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm or at Camelot Real Estate in the shopping center seven days a week during business hours. Financial donations can be made via Venmo, @Weston-Foodpantry, or by check payable to the Weston Food Pantry and mailed to 26 Riverfield Drive, Weston CT 06883.
Guests are welcome at the Kiwanis Club’s breakfast meetings on Saturday mornings from September through June. The club meets at the Norfield Church Parish Hall. Members begin to arrive around 8:15 am. Meetings run from 8:30 to 10:00. All are welcome.
