The “Pitch & Publish Conference” by the Westport Writers’ Workshop returns for its fourth year on March 22, an opportunity for writers in search of a literary agent, wanting to be educated about the industry, or looking to meet other authors, agents, and editors.

The conference takes place at The Westport Library. Tickets are on sale now for $350. Walks-ins are welcome. Also on sale are tickets for “Conference With Pitches,” an option that includes the conference plus two one-on-one pitches to literary agents. The price is $600 until February 3, $675 afterwards.

The conference includes four main sessions, three of which are interactive panels. “Ask The Agents” is moderated by literary agent Sarah Landis, “How to Keep Going, How to be Done” by author Iain Haley Pollock, “Adapting Your Prose into a Screenplay” by screenwriter Sharbari Ahmed, and “Putting Yourself Out There” by writer Brianna Avenia-Tapper. Several industry veterans are panelists for each session.

Those who purchase “Conference with Pitches” tickets will be able to pitch their books in person to two literary agents in one-on-one sessions. After registering, they will be notified about individual meetings and the deadline to submit query letters and sample pages two weeks before the conference. Agents participating include Coco Freeman of the Linda Chester Literary Agency, JL Stermer of Next Level Lit, Ronald Gerber of Lowenstein Associates, and Charlotte Wenger of Prospect Agency.

Westport Writers’ Workshop is an independent literary arts center offering creative writing classes and free literary readings to the public. The organization also provides free writing workshops to underserved populations. More information about WWW is available here. More about the Pitch & Publish conference can be found here.
