Police Officer Susan Clark, Weston’s first female officer in decades, was sworn in on December 9 in a ceremony at Town Hall.

Police Commission chair Beth Gralnick said Officer Clark comes to Weston from the Milford police department, where she served for six years on patrol and as a School Resource Officer.

First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor administered the oath, noting that Weston has not had a female officer for 25 years. “It’s about time,” said Ms. Nestor, adding that “this is a good example for our sons and daughters.”

“I’m very excited to be here,” said Officer Clark after her husband pinned on her badge as their two daughters looked on.

“This is a great community, as you’re about to find out,” said Police Chief Ed Henion, noting the presence of several Weston police officers and the chiefs of Weston emergency services.

“The best thing for me,” said Chief Henion, “is now I can say, thank you from the men and women of the Weston Police Department.”

A key feature of state-funded improvements to police headquarters completed earlier this year was accommodations for female officers.
