Weston’s D10 Youth Cheer squad of fourth and fifth grade girls will compete for the national American Youth League title, having placed in the top three in local, state, and regional competitions.

The team will travel to Orlando on December 3 for the nationals. A fundraising effort is underway to offset travel costs for coaches (all Sacred Heart students) and team expenses.

A GoFundMe campaign is up and running now.

In addition, the team will accept donations and sell handmade bracelets at Lily’s Weston Market from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 24 and Wednesday, November 27.

The D10 squad is the only Connecticut team to qualify in their division for the nationals.

Two other Weston squads, pictured below, made it to regional competitions this year but just missed a slot in the nationals. The D8 team of third graders, in their first season of competition, were only .18 points short. The D14 middle schoolers came within half a point in a challenging division.
