Weston police officers will have an extra measure of safety thanks to a $7,500 donation from the Weston Gun Club Foundation, funds that will be used to purchase protective gear.

“We appreciate the foundation’s longtime support for the Weston police,” said department chief Ed Henion. “This generous donation will increase safety for our officers and the community.”

The foundation has made more than 40 grants to various town organizations and Weston schools over the past 25 years. Recipients have included EMS, the police and fire departments, Town Hall, the Senior Center, Devil’s Den, and Lachat Town Farm.

The Weston Public School District has received more than a dozen grants, including funding for a drug and alcohol awareness program, cameras and equipment for photography classes, and the junior varsity lacrosse and girls golf teams.
