John J. Popkowski, 77, of New York, NY and Weston, CT passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2024. Born on February 3, 1947 in New York City to Winifred and John Popkowski, John lived a life rich in laughter, love, and dedication. His greatest passion was his family, and he was endlessly proud of his role as a husband, father, and grandfather.

Professionally, John enjoyed a storied career as an advertising executive in the cable television industry, finishing his career as President of Advertising Sales at MTV Networks. His sense of humor was legendary; he was rarely without a witty response or a teasing joke, always quick to bring a smile to those around him. Beneath his intense nature was a kind and sentimental spirit, always caring deeply for the people in his life and paying attention to the details—he was known to “sweat the small stuff” in the best possible way.

John had a lifelong love for music and sports, and in particular, the New York Yankees. He found joy in the game of golf, where he often blended friendly competition with laughter among friends. His charm and warmth will be dearly missed.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Lori A. Popkowski; his children, Ana Popkowski and John (Hannah) Popkowski; granddaughter, Lily Popkowski; and his siblings, Penny Gonzeles, Michael Popkowski, and Lynne Popkowski.
