Veterans Day Events, November 11

Everyone is invited to a Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, November 11, and special events for veterans take place all morning.
The traditional remembrance ceremony is held 11:10 am on the Green at Town Hall.
Veterans and their spouses are invited to an 8:00 am continental breakfast in the Weston Middle School cafeteria, followed by an all-school assembly in the gym, where three middle school grades perform “A Red, White and Blue Extravaganza.”
After that, a living history session in the library features informal talks by veterans, describing their service experience to small groups of 8th grade students.
At noon, after the Town Green remembrance ceremony, veterans will have lunch at Weston High School with visits from students and a discussion panel organized by the school’s American Heroes Club on life in the military, the draft, re-entering the workforce after their time in uniform, and other topics.
Parking for veterans will be available at Weston Middle School, and a van will be on hand for transport to the day’s various veteran events.
Weston veterans who would like more information about the day’s events can contact Ed Hutchins of the Veteran Affairs Committee by email.
Members of the Veterans Affairs Committee include Mr. Hutchins, Kevin Dougherty, Matt Vanlandingham, Johnny Cruz, and Jim Kohler.
