Broadway stars fill the stage on Sunday, September 22, lifting their voices to raise funds for awareness of America’s epidemic of gun violence.
The event — a benefit for Sandy Hook Promise — begins at 6:00 at the Sacred Heart University Community Theater, 1420 Post Road, Fairfield. Tickets can be purchased here.
The evening is hosted by two-time Tony Award winner James Naughton and folk luminary Rex Fowler of Aztec Two-Step. It was conceived by Dodie Pettit, Mr. Fowler’s wife, an accomplished songwriter and recording artist who performed on Broadway in Cats and Phantom of the Opera. Mr. Fowler had been asked to perform the title track from Aztec Two-Step’s acclaimed “Living In America” album in a new film, “A Father’s Promise,” and Ms. Pettit was inspired. The film is a documentary about Mark Barden, whose son Daniel was killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting.
Mr. Barden, co-founder and co-CEO of Sandy Hook Promise, said the work of the foundation “is all about educating and empowering youth and adults to help keep schools, homes, and communities safe.”
