Janice (Phillips) Fiedler, 93, of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Portsmouth, Rhode Island, died on September 8, 2024. She was the wife of Robert Fiedler.
Born in Fall River, MA on September 4, 1931, Janice was the daughter of the late Harry and A. Mildred (Britland) Phillips. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee HS, Framingham College, and Bridgewater State Teachers College. Janice enjoyed a long career teaching High School and Middle School Home Economics. She started her teaching career in Massachusetts before moving to Connecticut to teach first at Wilton High School and then later at Weston High School and Middle School.
While in Connecticut, she was an active member of Norfield Congregational Church, where she helped establish the Senior Center, and was a volunteer with AmeriCares and Habitat for Humanity.
Together with her husband, she enjoyed many years of traveling, entertaining, and continuing to learn. After their retirements, they moved to Bonita Springs FL where she sang with the First Presbyterian Church Choir, studied to be a Stephen’s Minister and volunteered at the local hospital.
Janice is survived by her daughters; Janet French, of Wake Forest, NC and Lee Fiedler, of Bonita Springs, FL, as well as her grandson Brian French of Raleigh, NC.
Janice is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fiedler, sister Marjorie Holmes, and brother Donald Phillips.
At Janice’s request, funeral services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Springs of Bonita Church (under “Fund” choose Jan’s name) or to the American Heart Association.
