Sunday Soundscapes: Harmonia V

Harmonia V, a woodwind quintet, performs at the Weston Public Library on September 15, the latest in the Sunday Soundscapes series from Friends of the Weston Library.

The show starts at 4:00. The suggested donation at the door is $20 for adults, $10 for students. Seats can be reserved in advance online.

The group of accomplished musicians is known throughout the region for a dynamic and entertaining repertoire, with a particular emphasis on contemporary compositions by living composers including Gwyneth Walker, Rick Sowash, Julien Monick, Jonathan Schmieding, and Weston’s own Joseph Russo.

The concert kicks off the second season of Sunday Soundscapes. The popular series has covered a range of musical genres, including opera, jazz, flute and guitar, strings, and the Great American Songbook.

In the photo at the top of the page, from left to right, oboist Janet Rosen is a member of the Waterbury, Norwalk and Greater Bridgeport Symphonies. Hornist Robert Hoyle performs with the New Haven, Springfield, and Waterbury Symphony Orchestras and Orchestra New England.

Continuing left to right, Jennifer Berman is Principal Flute of the Norwalk Symphony and the New Britain Symphony, and Assistant Principal of the Waterbury Symphony.

Jim Forgey is a member of the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Waterbury Symphony, and the New Britain Symphony. Jackie Sifford Joyner has performed with the Symphonies of Ridgefield, Greater Bridgeport, Wallingford, New Britain, and Norwalk.
