Merilyn Rose Smith was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was blessed with a long life and passed away at the age of 89 on July 10, 2024.
Merilyn was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 7th, 1934 to Maria Estelle and Joseph Edward Smith. She married Regis Louis Antonini on June 5th, 1954. Together they had five children, Maria Elizabeth, Barbara Jean, Robert Louis, Laurie Lynne and Marilyn Rose.
In 1967 they moved to Santa Barbara, California. After the children were raised, she moved back to the east coast to Weston, Connecticut. She lived there for the next 30 years. She found joy and comfort as it reminded her of where she grew up.
Merilyn worked in finance and banking. She attended night school and eventually received her degree. She was extremely bright, hardworking, determined and courageous.
Although she was very successful in business. Merilyn’s greatest love was music. She could be heard singing at all hours in her beautiful soprano voice. Her home was always filled with classical music. She was a talented piano and organ player. In her later years she had the opportunity to travel to Austria and sing. This was one of the most memorable and happy moments of her life.
Merilyn was survived by her four children and grandchildren, Valerie Jean, Natalie Rose, Joshua Joseph, Christopher Harold, Ava Victoria, Jonathan Robert, Samantha Rose and her new great grandson Alexander Giovanni.
A funeral service is scheduled at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Montecito, California on August 9th at 11 am.
