New Assistant Principals at WHS

The Weston Public School District has announced the appointment of Parthena Proskinitopoulos and Nicholas Torres as assistant principals at Weston High School.

Superintendent Lisa Barbiero described both as “dedicated and passionate educators,” and said, “I have no doubt that they will make a positive impact on the school community.”

Dr. Proskinitopoulos comes to Weston from the Westport Public School District, most recently serving as principal of Coleytown Middle School. Before that she was assistant principal at Staples High School, and had worked as a technology integration specialist and social studies teacher in Fairfield. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Bridgeport and, from Sacred Heart University, a Certificate of Advanced Study in educational leadership and a Master of Arts in teaching.

Mr. Torres has been with the Weston Public School District for the past seven years as a curriculum and instruction leader (CIL) and a social studies teacher. Before coming to Weston, he was a social studies teacher in Bridgeport and New Haven public schools. He holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in educational leadership from Sacred Heart University and a Master of Teaching from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Proskinitopoulos and Mr. Torres will replace Juliane Givoni and Matthew Filip as assistant principals. On July 1, Ms. Givoni became the district’s director of human resources. In the fall, Mr. Filip will return to Weston High School as a classroom teacher.

“This is an exciting time for Weston High School,” said Principal Meghan Conetta. “We are thrilled to have two exceptional leaders who place students at the center of their decision-making and foster caring relationships with school staff and families.”
