For the third year, Weston High School’s Green Team aims to make the town even greener by selling saplings, which will be delivered and planted by high school volunteers in late April.

On offer through March 27 — each for only $5 — are Eastern Redbud, Red Maple, and River Birch saplings.

The Green Team has a goal to sell 380 saplings this year to offset about 456 tons of carbon emissions. Proceeds from the sale will go to the national Tree-Plenish organization, which has information here about how to plant and care for saplings.

You will receive bare root saplings, which are dormant until they are planted. They usually begin to bloom about four to six weeks later. A sample image is below, but sizes vary by species.
