Food & Health Items Drive, Jan. 20
A collection in support of the Weston Food Pantry takes place on Saturday, January 20 at the Weston Shopping Center.
From 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, members of the Weston Kiwanis Club and the high school Key Club will accept donations of shelf-stable food at Lily’s Weston Market and healthcare products at Weston Pharmacy.
Typically, the Food Pantry needs non-perishable unexpired foods, pet food, toiletries, and household products and cleaners, including:
- Canned fish and meat, such as tuna, salmon, chicken, and ham.
- Breakfast food such as oatmeal, cereal, pancake mix, and syrup.
- Drinks: apple juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and water.
- Paper towels and toilet paper.
- Shampoo and conditioner.
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes.
- Laundry detergent.
- All-purpose cleaners.
- Cat and dog food.
Members of Weston Kiwanis and the Key Club are frequently in action supporting the Food Pantry and other community organizations. Since 2000 the club has donated over $900,000 to local charities with an emphasis on helping children. The club meets at 8:30 on Saturday mornings at the Norfield Church parish hall. Those interested in finding out more are welcome to attend a meeting.
