This evening (Monday, October 9) at 7:30 pm, a community gathering of solidarity and support for Israel takes place in Westport at Temple Israel, in collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County.

Temple Israel is located at 14 Coleytown Road in Westport.

“This event will bring together all our local congregations and clergy, as well as many elected officials who have reached out to offer support. Our hope is to mourn together, pray together, express our love for Israel together, and find unity together.”

In a statement today, First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor said, “As more shocking news comes out about the terrorist attacks against Israel, I fully support the Israeli people and its government.”

“I send my prayers along with strength and love for the families whose loved ones have perished, been kidnapped or wounded. I stand together with my community, state, and country denouncing these horrendous violent actions carried out by Hamas.”

“I will be attending a community vigil today at Temple Israel in Westport to show our solidarity for the Israeli people and come together.”
