Drug Take Back Day, Oct. 28

On Saturday, October 28 the Weston Police Department will again participate in the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) National Drug Take Back Day.

The collection site will be at the main entrance to the Weston Police Department (upper lobby). It will take place from 10:00 am through 2:00 pm.

Members of the public are welcome to bring any unused or excess medication to be anonymously collected and safely destroyed to keep drugs out of the wrong hands.

Collection of the drugs also helps prevent contamination of Weston’s groundwater. For the safety of collectors, sharps (needles) should not be deposited into the Take Back drop box.

“The drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat,” says the DEA. “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.”
