Labor Day weekend marks a particularly special milestone for everyone at Lachat Town Farm, as the new Daniel E. Offutt III Education Center will officially open.

On Sunday September 3, the farm celebrates by inviting everyone to enjoy a variety of free activities, including a blacksmithing demonstration, children’s book readings, hayrides, live entertainment, pony rides (a charge applies), arts and crafts, tours of the new education center and the farmhouse, and more.

Guests are asked to park on the upper field at 1 Ladder Hill Road South.

It’s called “Pastures and Pancakes” because you can also enjoy an old-fashioned pancake breakfast.

Tickets for three breakfast seatings can be purchased now, $10 for adults and $5 for children. The times are 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, fruit, coffee, and orange juice.

Breakfast guests can park in the lower lot at the farm’s main entrance, 106 Godfrey Road West.

The weekend also includes, on Saturday the 2nd, a free edition of the farm’s popular Yoga with Greg program. Register here, class size is limited.

And on Monday the 4th, a free program where you can learn how to save water, reduce pollution, and improve your garden by composting. It’s for both newbies and practicing composters who want to up their game. Register here so they know how many to expect.
