Free Concert and Picnic, August 27

A free concert and picnic for the community on August 27 at Norfield Congregational Church features the “unique acoustic American sound” of The Flying Fingers Jug Band.

It all happens on the front lawn of the church, starting at 4:00 pm.

Everyone is invited to bring family, friends, lawn chairs, blankets and nibbles. No reservations are necessary. Rain would move the concert into the Parish Hall.

The Flying Fingers Jug Band performs “an eclectic mix of musical instruments” including the washboard, string bass, jug, dobro, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, kazoo, mouth harp, and stove pipe. The band’s music “fuses the energy of post-prohibition revelry, the vocal harmonies of bluegrass, and the authenticity of a juke joint.”

The Community Concert & Picnic is sponsored by the Fellowship Committee of Norfield Congregational Church. More information is available here.
