The Pride Flag was raised at Town Hall on Monday, June 5, with opening remarks by First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor.

Those attending the late afternoon ceremony also heard from Shara Kolodney, who initiated Weston’s observance of Pride Month a few years ago, Eli Brennan, who spoke on behalf of State Representative Anne Hughes and State Senator Ceci Maher, and members of WesTones, who sang.

According to the Library of Congress, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States.
