Memorial Day Parade Ready to Roll

Weston Today 2022 photo

The Weston Volunteer Fire Department provided information about Monday’s Memorial Day Parade, on track with a favorable weather outlook.

As always, the parade begins at about 10:45 am in front of Weston High School, proceeds down School Road to Weston Road (Route 57), then goes left, passes the shopping center to Norfield Road, turns left again, and ends at the Town Hall campus.

After the parade, a ceremony is held, Fire Department volunteers give out hot dogs, and the Memorial Day Fair begins its final session.

Closures and parking

At some point before the parade begins, through traffic will not be allowed on the parade route, specifically at the intersections of School Road and Weston Road, Weston Road and Norfield Road, and at Norfield Road from Weston Road to the Town Hall campus.

Parking on the parade route is not allowed and the fire department’s lot is closed to the public to ensure egress by emergency vehicles. Parking may be available at the schools, shopping center, the Library, and at the Parks and Recreation facility, though spaces begin to fill as the start approaches.

At press time, the weather forecast calls for mostly sunny skies and 78º at noon.

Veterans have been invited to a continental breakfast at the Library by the Veterans Affairs Committee. The Memorial Day Fair begins on Friday (see the schedule on The Calendar) and the 5K Road Race/Walk and Kids Fun Run takes place on Saturday morning.
