Redding’s popular Frog Frolic Festival returns on Saturday, May 6 with live music, food trucks, a beer tent, a silent auction, and tons of children’s games and activities.
The event, put on by the Mark Twain Library, takes place from 10:00 to 4:00 at the Redding Community Center, 37 Lonetown Road.
This year’s entertainers include Bridgeport-based singer-songwriter Chris Cavalieri, Redding’s high school rock group VooDoo Dream, folk music performers Hitch and the Giddy Up, and the Country-Americana group North County.
Inspiration for the festival, which has welcomed the arrival of spring for more than 20 years, comes from Mark Twain’s short story, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.” The first Frog Frolic raised money for art supplies. Since then, it has become a major fundraising event for the Mark Twain Library.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a blanket or chair and stay all day. Admission is free, as is the entertainment, which will run all day at the festival. Tickets can be purchased on-site for games, crafts, and food from the concession stand.
