New Children’s Librarian Selected

The Weston Public Library is proud to announce that Kara Sabbagh has been hired to serve as the new Children’s and Teen Services Librarian. Her official start date is May 1.

Ms. Sabbagh comes to us from the New Fairfield Free Public Library, where she worked as Head Children’s Circulation Clerk since 2021. During her tenure, she implemented youth programs for everyone from babies to teens, developed award-winning library displays, and partnered with community organizations such as the local early childhood center and caregiver groups.

“We are thrilled to have Kara join the Weston Public Library team as the Children’s and Teen Services Librarian,” said Ian Parsells, Director of the Weston Public Library. “Throughout a competitive interview process, Kara stood out with her fresh ideas and a clear love of working with youth of all ages. I have the utmost confidence in her and am excited for what she has in store for the families of Weston.”

The Library will be hosting a reception for Kara so that Weston children and their families can meet their new librarian. A date and time will be announced once details have been finalized.

Ms. Sabbagh earned her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Southern Connecticut State University and a Bachelor of Science in Communication degree from Purchase College (SUNY) where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She has a background in videography and ran her own business as a freelance content creator (video, photography, and editing).

Kara replaces Alessandra Casiello, who left Weston to serve as the Innovations and Sustainability Librarian at the City of Danbury Library.
