Information Sought for Town Green Memorial

Construction starts on the Town Green this spring, and the town’s Veterans Committee asks if you know of Weston residents who, as service members, gave the ultimate sacrifice in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

If so, you can help by contacting Claudia Hahn by email to Westonvolunteer@gmail.com. Please do so by April 28.

The Veterans Committee also seeks names of Weston ancestors who may have participated in the Revolutionary, French and Indian, and Civil wars. If you have any relatives who served in those wars, that information would be quite helpful as well.

A key feature of the new Town Green is a prominent and expanded Veterans Memorial. Existing bronze plaques for World Wars I and II, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War will be saved and installed at the new memorial.

An existing addendum plaque, honoring Weston residents who served or are still serving, will be placed inside Town Hall for a period of remembrance and then moved to the Weston History and Culture Center.
