Veterans Day 2021. Weston Today
Everyone is invited to a Veterans Day ceremony at 11:11 am on Friday, November 11 at the Town Hall Memorial Garden, and veterans are invited to special events that day.
The Veterans Committee, working with leadership from the Town and school district, have arranged for a continental breakfast for veterans, an assembly at Weston Middle School, a living history session at the Library, and lunch at Weston High School.
Veterans wishing to participate are asked to RSVP here. Those who need transportation can contact Ed Hutchins of the Veterans Committee by email.
From 8:00 to 8:40, the continental breakfast will be served at the middle school cafeteria, hosted by 6th grade students. Access to the cafeteria is easiest by parking in the lot behind the school.
Next, veterans are honored at an all-school assembly in the gym, where the three middle school grades perform a Red, White and Blue Extravaganza.
This is followed by a living history session in the Library, where some veterans will talk about their military service with small groups of 8th grade students.
At about 10:40, veterans will be transported on the Senior Center van to Town Hall for the Memorial Garden ceremony. At 11:40, the van will go to Weston High School for a veterans lunch with students. At 1:00, the van will transport everyone back to the middle school.
