The State of Connecticut just made applying for an absentee ballot easier, as long as you have a valid Connecticut drivers license or a DMV-issued non-driver identification.
You also have to be a registered voter, something that can also be accomplished online (by November 1) if you haven’t already.
Online absentee applications can now be made at the Secretary of the State website.
On the site, you enter your first and last names, date of birth, and drivers license or non-driver ID number. The screens take you the rest of the way. An absentee ballot will be mailed to you.
If for some reason the system doesn’t work, you still can apply for an absentee ballot in the usual ways. We explained the process in this article.
Voter registration can also be done in person at Town Hall with the Registrars of Voters or Town Clerk, at the DMV, at the Weston Public Library, or even at the polls on November 8.
