Betty Ann Bunger passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 21, 2022, after 93 years of living life to the fullest.
Betty Ann was born on February 24, 1929 in Toledo, OH, the only child of Harold and Anna Hendricks. She graduated from Sylvania Burnham High School in Sylvania, OH, and often recounted happy memories of growing up in Ohio. Throughout the rest of her life, she kept up with many childhood friends, and was instrumental in planning high school reunions and fun trips with old girlfriends.
She met and married her lifelong love, Hilary D. Bunger, a graphic designer, in Goshen, IN, and moved into his family farmhouse to start a family. She loved to remind her kids and grandkids of her time on the farm, particularly the lack of indoor plumbing. In 1962, Betty Ann’s family permanently settled in Weston, CT.
Betty Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered for her patience, sharp wit, sense of humor, and for hosting large family gatherings. She was an active member of the Garden Club of Weston, volunteer at the Norwalk Hospital Thrift Store, and #1 employee at the former “Simply Country” gift store in Wilton, CT.
She loved to socialize with her many lifelong friends and family, including hooking rugs with her “Wilton friends” (aka the “Happy Hookers”), practicing ballet into her 80’s, traveling the world into her 90’s, and many walks and cook-outs on her beloved Compo Beach in Westport. During the last few years, she brought this zest for life to Savannah, GA.
Betty Ann is survived by her four sons and their families: Mark (Maria) of Westport, CT; Gregory (Kate) of Newtown, CT; Andrew (Margaret) of Savannah, GA; Jeffrey (Connie) of Worthington, OH: 10 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was predeceased by her parents and husband.
A service will be held at Reith, Rohrer, Ehret Funeral Home in Goshen, IN with burial to follow starting at 1 PM on Saturday, October 1.
Memorials may be made to the Weston Garden Club in Weston, CT (westonctgardenclub.com) or charity of choice.
