A scene from the 2020 event
Tickets are on sale for this year’s St. Baldrick’s fundraiser. The head-shaving event and community party takes place on the evening of April 30.
It all happens from 6:30 to 9:30 at the Weston Field Club. The event usually sells out quickly, all by advance ticket purchases.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds groundbreaking childhood cancer research. The event on the 30th features food, drink, fire pits, and a game room.
And shaved heads.
Shavees have it all taken off by licensed barbers for a good cause. To sign up for a trim, visit the website of Weston’s St. Baldrick’s team.
On the same page, you can make a donation.
In its twenty-year history, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation has funded over $300 million in childhood cancer research grants, the largest amount by any organization except the federal government.
Even at that level, a funding gap exists. Last year, the foundation was able to fund only about one-third of applications that had received an outstanding score. Fundraisers like head-shaving events are a vital part of closing the gap.
Tickets for the April 30 buzzcut are $50 for adults and $25 for children. They are available only by advance purchase and will not be sold at the door. Venmo @Teresa-Bello-2 to purchase.
