Zoom Event Honors Harriet Tubman

A national Zoom call today (March 10) at 6:30 7:00 pm celebrates Harriet Tubman Day, honoring the legacy of the woman who escaped slavery and became a “conductor” on the Underground Railroad to rescue others.

The event, a program of the Harriet Tubman Learning Center, will be hosted by Rita Daniels and Pauline Copes–Johnson, Ms. Tubman’s closest descendants.
Senator Richard Blumenthal and Congressman Jim Himes will participate in the tribute.
In Weston, First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor proclaimed March 10 Harriet Tubman Day, urging “our entire community to join together in Harriet Tubman’s dedication and legacy to freedom and equality in our nation.”
The non-profit Harriet Tubman Learning Center serves at-risk youth with STEM, robotics, and leadership development programs intended to instill confidence and a positive mindset towards education and future goals.
