Virtual Speak Up, February 12

The annual Speak Up event by the League of Women Voters happens on Saturday morning, February 12 from10:30 to noon.

The idea of Speak Up, which the League has been running for three decades, is to essentially provide a Q&A opportunity for interested citizens and town officials. In recent years, it has been held at the Library’s Community Room, but not last year, and unfortunately, not this one.

Speak Up 2022 will once again be (hopefully for the last time) a virtual event. You can register for the Zoom link at the Weston League of Women Voters website.

First Selectwoman Samantha Nestor and the Board of Selectmen will be present, along with the chairs of several town boards, committees, and commissions. From the Weston Public School District, we expect Board of Education chair Tony Pesco and Superintendent Lisa Wolak to be on hand to answer your questions. Leadership from the recently-renamed Aspetuck Health District will also attend.

Not in attendance this year: the three state legislators who represent Weston in the General Assembly. So the focus will be entirely on local issues based on what citizens want to hear from local leaders.
