Short Wharf Performers Take the Stage

Short Wharf, the Weston Middle School theater group, presents a memorable production of Roald Dahl’s “James and the Giant Peach JR.” on Friday and Sunday, January 28 and 30. A performance planned for Saturday was moved up to Thursday evening due to the prospect of heavy snow.

Friday evening’s show starts at 7:00. On Sunday, curtain time is 5:00. (Sunday’s time is a reschedule, again due to possible snow, from the original 3:00.)

Tickets are available online and can also be purchased by cash or credit card at the box office one hour before the show starts. Seats are $20 for adults and $15 for children, grouped in pods of five seats to allow a buffer between pods.

About the show

“James and the Giant Peach JR.” is an adaptation of one of Roald Dahl’s “most poignantly quirky stories,” a musical adventure of a boy and his insect friends taking a courageous journey across the ocean.

James, sent by his “conniving aunts” to chop down an old fruit tree, discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean, and launches a journey “of enormous proportions.” Along the way James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant peach over the waves, warding off hunger, sharks, and more than a few disagreements.

Enjoy.
